Give Your Bathroom A Makeover With Fabric Shower Curtains
|
Fabric shower curtain styles range from simple to elegant. You will find everything from basic flat-paneled curtains to elaborate designs that look like custom designer drapery. Most shower curtains are made of washable cotton, polyester or polyester/cotton blends. However some of the more elaborate designs are made from fabrics that require dry cleaning. When you shop for shower curtains, always check to see what kind of fabric they are made of and if the curtains are washable. Before you buy, you may also want to check if the fabric has been treated to be mold and mildew resistant. The style and fabric you choose can establish a decorating theme for the bathroom. You can then add accessories that complement or coordinate with that theme. For example, is you choose a print fabric with a seashell design, you can follow that theme through by: hanging framed prints of seascapes or beaches on the wall; placing a basket of pretty seashells on the vanity; adding a toothbrush holder, soap dish and/or liquid soap dispenser with a shell or ocean motif; and by buying towels and a bathmat that pick up the colors in the curtain. Likewise, you can choose a shower curtain style and fabric that carries through the décor theme of an adjoining bedroom or of your entire home. If all this is beginning to sound expensive, it doesn’t need to be. You can make your own fabric curtains. They are simple to make and if you shop around, you can find appropriate fabrics on sale. Complete how-to instructions can be found on the internet. You can often find inexpensive accessories at yard sales, thrift shops or dollar stores. It’s easy to make your own framed prints with pictures cut from calendars or magazines mounted in a dollar store frame. With a little creativity, you can transform your bathroom on a very small budget. Fabric shower curtains for your bath are a quick and easy decorating solution that can have big impact. |
